Which Browser is Secure?

Hello everyone -

I wanna just point out something here that I noticed often amongst I.T. Professionals. They all seem to go with using IE all the time esp. in big corporations. Its always Internet Explorer I always see in companies and NOT open source browsers such as Firefox. And hence, I spoke with my I.T. instructor about FF and he disagrees using it because its open source and hackers can see the code and dicover vulnerabiltites...And he told me that the data is not encrypted...

I dont know....But can a real IT professional here explain to me why do IT techs preffer to go along with Internet Explorer even they know its insecure? In other words, do they know a secret that open source users do not know??? Do corporations who use IE, do they know something about Open Source browsers that we dont know?

Please...explain...Im willing to know or find out.
