One remote desktop user (Win XP Pro SP2) gets the 'windows task list' instead of the 'windows security' screen when she hits ctrl-alt-del. I've remotely connected to her computer using a 3rd pty tool, and used it ot send ctrl-alt-del, and it too brings up task list. So at the moment, I'm stuck with her being unable to change her password (domain account password). We have approx. 10 desktops in our domain, and they all respond with the windows security screen when ctrl-alt-del is pressed. The user / account in question is a new user account, but created by me in the standard manner, and I had someone log on as her before shipping out the machine to her home.
While it's normal for a domain member computer to respond with 'windows security', I have read that it IS possible to get it to respond with 'task list', but I have not tried to do that. However, maybe I could look at whatever setting controls that and see if it somehow got changed.
Also - if I remote connect to her machine using remote desktop, there is an additional 'start menu' item for 'Windows Security' - one that she does not see when she is in control. This start-menu enry is only presented when remote connected. If I could somehow run that little applet directly, I could have her run it and change her password that way. I've been googling for hours looking for a 'rundll32' trick to lauch 'windows security' but can't find it.
So task 1 is - fix the problem where task list is coming up instead of windows security, and task 2 (interim solution) is - figure out how to lauch 'Windows Security' without hitting ctrl-alt-del. Thanks!
