Hi, over the last couple of weeks on startup I get a message telling me bad sectors have been detected on my hard disc. A graphic is shown with I assume the bad sector marked, can I do anything about this ? Another thing perplexing me is, after shutting down properly the previous night, on startup scandisk starts after telling me that I didn't shut down properly ? On top of all this I think I'm infected ? I ran Ad-aware and got the usual few cookies, which I got rid of, I ran SpyBot and was congratulated on no problems found, I then ran A squared and......................

I read somewhere about the first two problems, and am confused as to whether they are nasties or not ? But that other hideous sounding thing has got me worried, so I quarantined them all until I have asked the experts. This morning on startup as usual my AVG scanner was running and it immediately came up with,
C:\WINDOWS\hosts Reading Error. Obviously I noticed that this is the same location as that thing above, which I thought I had quarantined earlier this morning ? I would appreciate any help on this matter, but not too technical please, as I really do not know my way around computers, and do NOT understand the 'speak' which seems to be the norm. I thank you in advance.
