USB Drives
Hey guys & gals,
I have a question on USB drives. I was given a task of placing a power point presentation using MS power point or using a simple html web site on a USB drive. This will be given to customers as a free gift when requesting more information about our company. I understand using power point and autorun.ini, and even using autorun.ini even with a url/file link. I also understand they could just format the USB drive to clear any data, but I don’t see many doing that… I’m planning to do a simple presentation that loads but gives them an option to close.
Here’s my question: How can I protect the files from being edited and/or deleted. I’m just looking for the best way to handle this task!
Thank You ALL for your replies

I don't want to use drives that has a lock built in, as I would like the client to be able to use the leftover space for whatever they choose. I just want to protect the files I load from being copied/deleted unless they format the complete USB. This is be a gift, but I would like to place a company presentation on it about our company. As far as using 3.25, who uses that anymore, and most new computers don't even come with a 3.25. As far as why not to use a CD, (which would be much easier) the USB drive is a going gift these days.

Thank you for a complete answer, now to see if I can create my presentation in .pdf's
thanks for the points and grade.
FYI - OFC2K7 has built-in support for generating (saving as) PDF files.
2007 Microsoft Office Add-in: Microsoft Save as PDF or XPS
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=4d951911-3e7e-4ae6-b059-a2e79ed87041&displaylang=en
but it lacks for READ-ONLY support. if you do have Acrobat Writer, you may use it to set the RO attribute, otherwise consider using a PDF generator (printer) such as PrimoPDF which supports RO with encryption.
hope it helps,

I'm sure there are some companies who will do this for you
(Personally I would simply use 3.25 inch CDs)
