Absolute must(s) for a remote disaster recovery infrastructure

Asked by fahim in Network Design & Methodology, Miscellaneous Security, Exchange Email Server

Hi Guys, for some reason, design and deployment of BCP and IT DR seems to fall into the lap of security professionals and I am no exception.

So the job at hand is to design and implement a BCP replete with an IT DR in another country to which an always on MPLS link of about 2 MB exists.

Now I was wondering if I have left out any of the major technology components from the IT DR perspective though I know BCP is much more than that.

For iT DR purposes I am looking at the following:

1. Servers consildation of the primary site to DR using VMware or HyperV.
2. SAN to SAN replication using some Async mode. Veritas volume replicator or EMC Recover Point
3. Some replication technolofy for Mail messaging servers, Double Take or CA XoSoft.
4. Citrix for app virtualisation to enable users 'work from home' scenario.

What else??

I am looking for some other technology solution that someone really found 'workable' in their design of the same needs...
