Can everyone log into linux without a root password?!!

I am rather a newbie to linux. I was convinced that linux is more secure and
reliable than windows. Now, I heard from a friend that linux is not secure in
case you have a physical access to the PC. Anyone can simply sit in front of the
box, logon in single user mode where he will not be asked for password, mount
any partition and see all the document of others, or even vi
/etc/passwd, delete the encrypted password and the PC is under his mercy. I am
sure this is not true but I want detailed information.Start Free Trial
