I suspect that it isn't your Debian system that is sending the mail messages out, but rather it is something like MIMAIL or Sobig on windows boxes that are sending the messages and claiming that they are from your email address. If your system is in fact doing this you should be able to see evidence of that in maillog or by sniffing your network connection for SMTP traffic.

There are a number of commercial anti-virus scanners for Linux from ComputerAssociates, Sophos, Kaspersky, McAffee, etc. The cost varies according to how the S/W will be used, but it looks to me like the best deal of the bunch is eTrust from CA ($129).
