I assume your trying to flash to the latest bios?
Have you tried: ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.c
Doesn't look like your model was supposed to come with XP, and was designed for and came with Vista... A lot of LT makers have done this even when no one really likes Vista too much.
The FAQ on the site says that the Empowering tools were designed for Vista and not available for other OS's at this time:
