I have a student laptop that has a virus. It will not boot boot up. It already has virus software and spyware loaded.
What is the best way to boot the computer and remove the virus. Also, is it safe to serially boot it with another computer to diagnose and remove the virus.
NOTE:I do not physically have the laptop yet or have personally diagnosed it.

Since you can never be sure you have removed all traces of the virus,
it's normally a good advice to reinstall the whole thing.
If necessary, try to get the user data from the laptop first.

I usually use the UBCD4WIN in such a case, as nothing can infect the CD. It includes several AV tools. When you build the CD the tool you are building it from will allow you to download the newest definitions for those tools. You can also download the definitions temporarily when running the CD and the tool.

This is Live CD for Kaspersky Antivirus. Boot the PC from it and connect to an ethernet connection for updating definitions. Then run the scanner and finish any infections.

I cannot get into safe mode. The system attempts to repair itself(Startup Repair), but is unable to repair itself. I manually verified that the memory and hard drive is okay. I cannot get past startup and repair. I also tried(unsuccessfully) booting the system from the antivirus disk. Any suggestions???
Then it is very unlikely that you burnt the CD correctly. Did you try booting it from another PC?
Normally when you download a CD image (*.iso file) you need a proper burning tool, like CDBurnerCP, and select burn CD from Image, then just burn it. Don't pull the imagefile onto the drive.

i'd boot into safe mode if the machine can and run a full scan with the AV already installed on there
