Can't open MS Access file on intranet

Asked by M_Epstein in MS Forefront, Microsoft Access Database, Operating Systems Network Security

My database is Access 2003 accessed through our intranet. When I try to open the db, I get the error: "Microsoft Access cannot open this file. This file is located outside your intranet or on an unrestricted site. Microsoft Access will not open the file due to potential security problems."

The file resides on a win 2003 file server. I also have a Win 2003 application server accessed thru terminal services. There are also a few desktops logged directly into the file server.

I have three main Access 2003 db that I use. All three are accessible from the desktops. Two of the three were previously accessible by logging directly into the application server or file server, but now I get the above error message. I did some research that revealed that if the file was emailed, it might be blocked and right click ->properties and click "unblock". These files were never emailed and there is no "unblock" button indicating that they are not flagged. I strongly suspect that this has something to do with the security settings in IE 6.

Dies anyone have any ideas? Maybe IE need to change some IE 6 security settings? To what?Start Free Trial
