Hello Security Peoples! I have always aspired to be a more competent PC tech. I found that bootable "back door" programs have always been useful to me. I usually build my own desktops and up until recently I had an old HP Pavillion laptop that I would intentionally "break" and rescue with Ultimate Boot CD (love it!).
Now I own some Dell (XP Pro) products and I find that the hard disks are "write protected". I can see where this is useful for staving off boot sector viruses and such. But to me this is a case of security products actully making my machine less useful.
Question: How do I use UBCD v.4 Offline Registry and User Editor to reset passwords when the drive won't allow itself to be written to?
