The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How do I remove BPK?

Asked by idonthaveaname in Windows Network Security

A keylogger has recently got planted in my computer (don't ask me how). It's called BlazingTools Perfect Keylogger. It's planted in the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ folder with serveral other files that I suspect has relations with it. The files that I find suspicious are bpk.exe, bpkwb.dll, bpkhk.dll, bpk.bin, and bpk.dat. The latter two is updated daily because the "Last modified" is always today. They are probably the log for my keystrokes and probably recorded this post as well. The other two dynamic link libraries and the executable is probably the keylogger itself. They were all last modified in January 1st, 2004 so it's pretty new I guess.

Now the problem: I have Norton Internet Security installed on my computer and it detected the bpk.exe trying to access the internet. I blocked it, so I guess Í am semi-safe now. But I tried to remove it with Ad-aware 6.0 since it detects keyloggers, but it fails to remove it completely from my system (yes I check for updates everytime I search), meaning the keylogger is still working. Spybot S&D fails to detect any file that relates to it. I tried manually remove it but failed. First I tried to delete the executable and dlls but Windows say it's being used. Okay then I went to msconfig and unticked the bpk, restarted the computer but it still says it's used by windows. And I don't want to format my hdd to solve this problem.

You probably got the question already so I won't ask it again.
