Browse All TopicsHello,
I suspect that someone change files in my computer while I was gone. Probably an hacker got in, besides the protection of my norton firewall.
I would like to know if there is any software that can record all the changes in files and the user (or IP) that did it.
Furthermore, if I can do anything else to prevent that kind of situation. I am connected to internet 24 hours a day.
Thank you all

Your event viewer should audit most things - as long as you configure an audit policy
You can also audit file and folder access through Event Viewer, although you have to set this up specifically
Having said that, most hackers are pretty good at covering their tracks, and they will most likely have attacked in a way that is not easy to identify.
The best protection is a good firewall, an up-to-date antivirus scanner, an up-to-date spyware detector, and regular visits to Windows Update. Getting a router would be a good idea if you have a static IP address.
At the end of the day, awareness and caution are the best defence.
