Question

Should I upgrade from NAVCE 8.x to 9.0?

Asked by: hnaparst

Does anyone have any experience with NAVCE 9.0?  In particular, any install issues?  How does the spyware facility compare with Spybot Search & Destroy, for instance?

Yes, I upgrade from NAV 7.5 to nav 9.0 and I didnt have any problem, Went like a charm. The scanning engine to scan in email was improved. Apart from that, it has some expanded Threat Detection and Threat Categorization. (for spyware, etc..) but it's not that effective.

It was free, and caused 0 problem, so go ahead and install..

Oh, even if it says : Migrating to the current version of Symantec Client Security, it'S the document they recommend for upgrading. I used it.

I have had a lot of install problems in my test environment.  The current problem is that I have a client that I can't install 9.0 on at all.
When I try to use the CD on the client, the error message is "You cannot install a licensed build over an unlicensed  build."
This box has SP2 on it, and I'm upgrading from 8.x to 9.0 Business Pack.  I've already run NoNav.bat to get rid of 8.x.

The install procedure is tricky, and you should obtain a copy of NoNav.bat from Symantec before starting.
This batch file removes all traces of SAV (all versions).  You will have problems if you delete SAV 9.0 and
then attempt to re-install it.  However, the install does eventually work.
