The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

eXact.Downloader Trojan Downloader

Tags: downloader, trojan

Windows XP SP2 - IE 6 - SP2 ... scanned with updated McAfee Viruscan program, with AdAware SE PRO (current with all updates, configured to do deep scanning, include the HOSTS file) .... scanned with Spybot S&D all current and use the Immunize function ... checked with most current of HijackThis and all clean.  UNTIL I downloaded and installed the new Microsoft Antispyware Beta 1 tool and my initial response was:
"WOW, I'm really impressed with the new Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta1 tool.  Just installed it and ran it (deep scanning all drives) and despite the fact that I did a full updated Viruscan last night, along with Spybot S&D (Immunized) and AdAware SE Pro then a HijackThis run and log check was "clean" ..... BUT then ran this beta software from Microsoft this morning and found 8 threats (high risk), 7 files and 11 registry keys.  Very very impressive.  I love it.  Links here:

But then I rebooted and rechecked, the eXact.Downloader Trojan Downloader was once again detected, deleted and after reboot, still there and detected again.  System Restore OFF.

I then rebooted and reran in SAFE MODE, again detected, again deleted.  Deletion again confirmed, rebooted, reran in normal mode, found again.

Then did the process below...

Still no solution, still there.

Never went to any sites that downloaded/added the BargainBuddy fiasco, nor the eXact.Download relationship, yet here I am.

Remains unresolved.  Tried Panda, still there.

Any specific help here?
