Using Group Policy to lockdown desktops

Hi guys,

I'm the new administrator of a college of 400 students and am new to Active Directory 2003.

My predecessor didn't use Group Policy at all but I'd like to change that because I believe I should restrict what the students can do at the desktop.

For instance, they can currently do the following:

-map network drives
-use the 'run' box (and therefore get into the registry)
-un-check the Proxy server settings so that their internet connection bypasses our ISA server which provides email and content filtering.

The list goes on - and I've looked into Group Policy and I know how I can prevent these things.

I'm just wondering if you experts could make an exhaustative list of the kinds of things I should prevent the end users from being able to do (as I bow humbly to experienced preofessionals).
