The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not?   • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. blocking direct access to file through a unc path

Please bear with me on this one.   I support a software company that developed an application dependent on either drive letter or UNC.  that application has vulnerabilities ie .DBF  These files can be accessed outside of the dedicated application or can easily be removed or copied.  I think you get the picture.  Anyway I found throught group policy that i can hide and restrict access to any drive. the results are the user doesn't see any file and receives a message indicating something to the effect that the drive has been restricted.  The great part of this is that any application dependent on drive letter are not hampered,  giveing exactly what i'm looking for.   My question is,,,,,,, is there any thing i can do that can give the same result when accessing a  share through UNC.
