New Task at work

I have tasked to start working on network security the companie is growing and we now have to companies what are some security options as I need to keep track of all data and make sure it is not disapearing on thumbdrives or cell phones ect. Some of the people are using thumbdrives and I was thinking of going to the thumbprint ones so i can keep a log of what data is leaving ect. As I say I am new to this any advice would be great thanks in advance
