I had a problem with Windows XP Pro a few weeks ago: I had installed Anonymizer, and followed it's advice to delete spy ware. And around that time (may have been the exact time) I started having problems with files being suddenly not authorized to be downloaded.
I am attempting to download a PGP installation file, and it's being rejected. The file is of type ".com".
Anybody know how to change this?
I do intend to reformat my hard disk actually. Other strange things started happened at the same time. But I'd like to know for the meantime until I reformat.

do this via internet explorer
this will resolve your problem.
click on tools
click on internet options
click on security
click on custom level
scroll down till you get to downloads in the security section
click and enable automatic prompting for downloads
click and enable file download
simple as that click ok and it will work

4. Click Local intranet, and then click Custom Level.
5. Under Reset Custom Settings, click Medium in the Reset to list.

'Your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded': I have tried everything post online to fix this issue and nothing has worked. I have changed all my settings to Low and still nothing. Besides buying a brand new computer what else can I possibly do??? what am I doing wrong. help

Try this...
Open your browser, click Tools / Internet Options.
In Internet Options, click the Security tab.
In the "Select a Web content zone" control, click the Internet icon.
In the "Security level for this zone" area, reset security to Medium.
Click OK.
