The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Non Domain User Authentication problem windows server 2003

Hi Experts,

I am sure there is a simple solution to my problem but despite call to several IT support companies I have not been able to resolve it.

I am running a windows 2003 server with AD and have set up all the users, rights and privelages etc etc and everything seems to be working fine for workstations that log onto the domain.  My problem however is that I need to be able to authenticate users from non domain computers.

I will paint the picture.  I have a username and password set in active directory with administrator rights for the domain. I log on to the domain with this user name and password and everything works fine.  I have access to the shares for wich I have rights and am denied access to those for wich I don't. "Perfect".  My problem however is that I sometimes need to access these resources from a workstation that is not a member of the domain.  I log onto the workstation with the same username and password as set in AD and can access the resources that are enabled for the Everyone user account but am denied access to the others.  Obviously I am not being authenticates as me but rather as a guest.  I am not prompted for a password to access these resources but rather just "Access is denied".  I want to be able to access the resources that my user account allows from a non domain computer. Is this possible.Start Free Trial
