The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Did not get a certificate for MCSA certification

Tags: mcsa certificate certification
More than a few weeks ago I passed the last test which gave me my MCSA. certification However, I have not received any kind of certificate or documentation stating my MCSA certification. Any idea why I haven't received it yet? Do I have to call microsoft or something? When I passed my first microsoft exam I had to request a welcome kit and I have received that many months ago. Is the process similar to MCSA becuase i can't find anything.

Looking at the Microsoft "Welcome Kit and Certificate Details" page (http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/kits/default.mspx), you have to order the Welcome Kit from the Microsoft Certification member site (https://mcp.microsoft.com/authenticate/login.aspx?ReturnUrl=https://mcp.microsoft.com/mcp/tools/WelcomeKitValidateAddress.aspx).

You have to order the welcome kit and then expect to wait 6 weeks till it arrives. In the meantime you will have an MCP ID that will give you access to the MCP member site which from there you can print out a transcript of your certifications if you are currently seeking a job and don't want to wait 6 weeks for it to arrive to show potential employers that you do possess those certifications

Delivery of Welcome Kits has been delayed beacuse of numerous new titles (MCTS, MCITP,...). It's not unusual to wait couple of months for delivery. If you hav ordered the kit more than three months ago, you should contact regional office. If not, all you can do is... wait.

02.20.2008 at 03:27PM PST, ID: 20943174
Maybe i'm confused. I've been an MCP for almost a year and i ordered the initial welcome kit already and have received it but aren't you suppose to get a certificate when you pass all exams required for MCSA? I can even log onto the mcp member site because it keeps showing me a windows live sign out button and nowhere to login.

02.20.2008 at 04:33PM PST, ID: 20943836
OK the way it works is this

your first test you get an MCP certification for that one

If your working on your MCSA lets say you take one of the four cores in this example the 70-290 and passed you get a score report and then you request a welcome kit by going to the MCP member site signing up and then requesting a welcome kit

your next 3 tests

70-291 - No cert
70-293 - No Cert
20-294 - MCSA certifcation providing you passed the 70-290, 70-291, 70-293 and now the 70-294

You will now have your MCSA.
Login in to the MCP member site (they have changed the login procedure you now must have a windows Live ID (you should have gotten one of these when you intially signed up for your MCP welcome kit) It will be whatever email address you registered and your password if you do not remember it then click the links for it

If you do not have a windows live ID you will click on the live login then it will take you to a login page if you do not have a windows Live ID you need to sign up for one follow the link on the left hand side of the page.

If for some reason your not getting to these pages clear out your temporary files. then revisit the site

Here is the MCP Site

did you make sure they had the right mailing addy?

For each certification you qualify for, be it MCP, MCSA, etc., you have to login to the Microsoft Certification member site and request the corresponding materials.

@ briancassin

I'm not trying to be smartass, but exam numbers are:

1. 70-210 (W2KPRO) or 70-270 (WXP)
2. 70-290 (W2K3SRV)
3. 70-291 (W2K3Network)
4. Elective - almost any exam but not 70-293 or 70-294.

@ twcadmin
If you have succesfully ordered welcome kit and have not received it, contact MS Regional Service:
http://www.microsoft.com/learning/support/worldsites.mspx

If you are by any chance from EMEA region, you can contact: emeamcp [at] microsoft [dot] com

02.20.2008 at 10:41PM PST, ID: 20945510
Yeah I was incorrect I quoted all of  the MCSE cores instead of MCSA

the correct electives and others are below in the link

Basically same as I said above just substitute the numbers I quoted using this link

http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mcsa/windows2003/default.mspx

So as I said before it still applies
for each exam passed

First Exam - MCP credential
Second Exam - Nothing no cert no credential
Third Exam - Nothing no cert no credential
Fourth Exam - MCSA CERTIFICATION OBTAINED.

I still dont see anything for MCSA welcome kit.
Could it be because i chose Security+ as my elective? It does not list Security+ on my transscript probably becuase they dont know about it because its a different company. Since they accept Security+ as an elective, how do i show them that i passed my security+ so it will show on my transcript and prove that i have everything i need for MCSA?

Check out this page:  "Apply Your Credentials to Microsoft Certifications" - http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/partners.mspx

At the bottom of the page:

To apply CompTIA certifications toward these MCP certifications, follow these steps:

1. Take at least one MCP exam and obtain an MCP ID number. Candidates will not be allowed to apply their CompTIA credentials until they have taken (passing is not necessary) at least one MCP exam and obtained an MCP ID number. The MCP ID number is sent in an e-mail after passing an exam or by contacting a Microsoft Regional Service Center for assistance.

2.   Visit the CompTIA Web site for information about CompTIA certifications, and to register your CompTIA credential and your MCP ID number.

CompTIA will verify your certifications and forward your information to Microsoft.

You need to do the following
https://mcp.microsoft.com/mcp/support.mspx

To apply CompTIA certifications toward these MCP certifications, follow these steps:

1.Take at least one MCP exam and obtain an MCP ID number.

2 problems, i took comptia a+ and security+ before i even took a micrsoft exam so i didnt have and MCP id yet and i cant find ANYWHERE on the comptia member page to enter my ID. I really appreciate everyones help with this.

02.23.2008 at 12:06PM PST, ID: 20966415
Here this is directly from the CompTIA site under there FAQ's when you login to the above page I mentioned

How do I submit my credentials towards MCSA to Microsoft?
Microsoft accepts the combination of CompTIA A+ with either CompTIA Network+ or CompTIA Server+ as an elective for the Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA) certification program. In addition, Microsoft accepts CompTIA Security+ as an elective for both the MCSA and the Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE) certifications, and as a specialization option for the MCSA: Security and MCSE: Security certifications. 1. Take at least one Microsoft MCSA on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 exam or Windows 2000 exam to obtain your MCP identification number (MCP ID). You must have your MCP ID number to apply your CompTIA credentials towards MCSA certification. Your MCP ID number is provided to you by e-mail after you take a Microsoft exam, regardless of whether you passed or failed the exam. You can also contact a Microsoft Regional Education Service Center for assistance. 2. In order to submit your CompTIA certifications to Microsoft you will need to do the following: Log into your CompTIA record at www.comptia.org/careerid. If you are a first time user, you will need to create a user name and password before you can access the database and you will need to have your score report available. If you do not have a copy of your score report, please contact the test delivery provider that you used to take your exam. They will either mail you a copy of your score report or e-mail the information to you. The test vendors telephone numbers are the following: VUE: 1-877-551-7587 and Prometric: 1-800-776-4276. 3. Once you have logged into your record you will need to click on publish credentials and send your A+ and Network+ or Server+ for MCSA or Security+ for MCSE to: MCPHelp@microsoft.com. You will need to provide your MCP ID# in the text field of the validation form. You MUST use this publish credentials feature to validate your certifications to Microsoft. DO NOT send them an e-mail directly. Only by using this validation process will they accept your certification information. If you have any questions please contact Microsoft at 1-800-636-7544.

The main logon page I gave you above
https://certify.comptia.org/durango/do/login?ownername=comptia&channel=comptia&basechannel=comptia

Says if you do not have and ID to register for one....

If you have never had a CompTIA login then you need to follow the directions on the page here which is when you click on the link that says "First time user"

https://certify.comptia.org/durango/do/login/firsttimeuser?ownername=CompTIA&basechannel=comptia&channel=comptia&usertype=candidate

02.23.2008 at 02:27PM PST, ID: 20967051
ya i went to that login page and i am already signed up and still couldnt find anything but now that you pointed it out, i know to use publish credentials. i was assuming that there was somewhere on my profile that i had to enter my mcp id or something. Thank for your help but after i do this then will i be able to request the mcsa welcome kit?

02.23.2008 at 04:18PM PST, ID: 20967502
You will have to wait until Microsoft recieves the information from CompTIA which takes about a week or two (the process may be faster now) When I did it a couple years ago it took this long.... once they recieve that then you should be able to order the welcome kit from microsoft. You can easily tell because when you log into the MCP site and follow the link to order the welcome kit it will either tell you, you do or do not have one available at that time. IF for some reasons after two weeks you still cannot order your welcome kit you will need to contact Microsoft at 1-800-636-7544.
