Security/ auditing tools for PC's and Macintosh computers

Any recomendations for possible tools that would allow for me to audit/ observe, view programs on PC's and Macintosh computers?

I am having a hard time controlling Macintosh users and the programs they are running here.
I want to completley block any access to last.fm, one of the mac users logs into a FTP server and he is using some sort of program to use this FTP port to draw in huge amounts of data.

Any thoughts on this? anyone
