xp event loggin attempts

windows server logs shows one client is attempting to connect the server with administrator login
its happening when user login in to the system
i have checked the login scripts, startup it doesnt show login name with administrator
the event ID is 529

how can i trace this issue

A couple of ideas:

1.  Run Sysinternals Autoruns (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx) to see what runs at startup, including scheduled tasks and processes triggered via the Current Version\Run registry keys.  

2.  Run Sysinternals Process Explorer (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx) after logging on to see if a process is running under the Administrator context.  Make sure and add the "User" column to the view so you can see user context.

i have checked with the 2 tools that you have provided...

when i logged using my name, there is NO attempt
when user name USER1, logged in there is Administrator login attempt

it shows as a domain which we used previously (domain doesnt exist now)

the login attempt is there when user logged in to the system
any ideas how to fix this?

Are you running any login scripts or have any old network drives mapped under the the USER1 account?
If you have Active Directory check that no login scripts are attached to the account.

As What90 alludes to, it sounds like the login attempt is associated only with the User1 account rather than the workstation itself.  I would also check to see if a scheduled task is configured to run at logon for the User1 account.
