We have a group policy set up that places a group we created in Active Directory titled WSAdmins in the local administrators group on workstations using the 'Restricted Groups' feature in group policy.
It seems like this overwrites the current Administrators group membership settings, does anyone know if that is normal behavior of this policy?
We would like to still be able to add other users to the Administrators group on the local workstations but still have this global setting in place.
I suppose one option would be to create an additional local group on the workstation called local admins and then use the GPO to add that group to the administrators group...
Anyone have any better ideas?

An "overwrite" of the group is the only functionality that I have seen. This setting is actually meant to make it so that groups are controller only from active directory so that only people with the appropriate domain creds can make changes to groups on machines. It is not meant to add a group to a local group on a workstation.
As Mike said, you have two ways to use restricted groups
* Members of this group = overwrite
* This group is a member of = append

Yes that is one normal way (to overwrite), but you can also append to what is there which is what you all want.
