The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

I can log into PointSec just Fine, but made the mistake of changing my domain name to "WORKGROUP" at Home.

I made the error of changing the Domain Name on my Laptop to "WORKGROUP", in an attempt to access other computers at Home (for some reason I could ping one of the other PCs on my Home network, and able to Map a drive to it, but somehow didn't have "permissions" - go figure!! Anyway that's beside the point)

The reality is that I changed the Domain Name on my Laptop because I thought that would solve the issue in brackets above, and after that All HELL breaks loose from a Domain Name change!!!!!!!!

As it stands now:

(1) I have a Dell LapTop Secured with PointSec software.
(2) I can successfully login to PointSec
(3) But when I go to Windows, Windows now refuses to log me on.

I've tried Safe Mode, by hitting F8 right after I log into PoinSec but all the options presented to me in Safe Mode still take me to a Windows screen where I have to login and (3) occurs.

I've created a Win XP SP2 BOOT DISK set having 6 floppy disks, and have tried booting up with those, but at the end of it I get a Blue Screen "exb....bla bla" error. I suspect because the system thinks I'm trying to bypass PointSec security. Which I'm not, because I can successfully login to it. I'm just trying to restore the Windows Domain name to what it was, if that would allow me to login to Windows.

I've seen hints at RegCure etc, but they all ASSUME that you can login to Windows to begin with, which I can't.
