File Server Folder and Security Set up

Asked by KALULAX in Windows 2003 Server, Operating Systems Miscellaneous, Windows Network Security

Thought I would ask some expert advice on setting up a new file server. I have an existing W server 03 file server that has a mess of folders and such. I want to clean this up before moving files over to new W 2003 server.
What are prefered folder structures? Ex. IT, Accounting, HR, Quality, Safety, etc.
Preferred AD groups in OU? Ex. HR1, HR2, Accounting1, Accounting2
Adding employee user folders on file server as a defualt replacement to their local my documents folder.
Would it go //Server/joe_user or //Server/Users/joe?
What is easy way to point all clients from my documents to their folder on file server?Start Free Trial
