Securing Excel Files

Asked by kendalltech in Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet Software, Windows Network Security, Windows 2003 Server

Hi,

We're running a Windows 2003 Server and all of the employees connect via Terminal Services.  We only would like them to view Excel files without giving them write or delete access to these files...but the catch is that we have over 1000 Excel files and I don't want to go through each file and set the modify password for each file.  I tried to modify the settings on the Security tab to giving them read only access and deny them write, modify or delete access but then they can't even open the folder containing the files.  Only 2 of the 10 users are able to edit or delete the Excel files and everyone else should only have read access to these file.  Please let me know if there's a way to do this.  Please let me know if you need more information.  Thanks!Start Free Trial
