Windows xp Event Viewer shows user as ANONYMOUS LOGON, is that normal?

On a stand-alone computer running Windows XP, the Event Viewer indicates, among others, the following parameters under Security, each time one logs on:

Type                    Date    Time     Source        Category         Event            User                     Computer
Success Audit                             Security      Logon/Logoff     540     ANONYMOUS LOGON
Success Audit                             Security      Logon/Logoff     528     LOCAL SERVICE
Failure Audit                               Security      Policy Change    615     NETWORK SERVICE

Is this a normal display, particularly, with regards to the 'ANONYMOUS LOGON' and the "Failure Audit"? The dial-up connection from this machine constantly switches off and reconnects at a lower speed after a retry, only to disconnect again. Is there a relation between the display above and the dial-up problem?
Thanks very much for your assistance.

It may not be connected, but I would get at least a personal firewall working on the machine, Black Ice, etc just in case.

ASKER

Norton Personal Firewall 2003 with latest updates is installed and runs on the machine. Black Ice?

Thank u, yaruar, for the links. While the 3rd shows that someone had posed a similar question, the response given then, is drowned in probability: '"probably" browser traffic...'

ewall's comment #1, throws some light, except that my machine stands alone and has a firewall for dial-up connections.

yarour's suggestion about patches and latest drivers is being explored. If installing the latest patches and drivers resolves the issue, you'll be informed.

Meanwhile other options and suggestions for the "Failure Audit" and whether the constant dial-up disconnections are related shall be appreciated.
Let me begin by apologising to the entire Experts Exchange community and particularly to yarour and ewall for my long absence from the site.

When I gave myself the homework of updating the 'puter with the latest patches and drivers, it was for that weekend, which is what I did. Then the machine broke down on Monday before I had the chance to report the findings. It is not yet fully back on its "feet", but I felt the first opportunity to get back on line should be to tender this apology.

Even though updating the patches and drivers did not resolve the problem, I'd like to award the points to Yarour and ewall for their attempt and particularly for their patience in the long wait to know the outcome of their efforts.

I'm therefore spliting the points to the two of them wit 30 to yarour and 20 to ewall.
Once again thank you all very sincerely for your efforts and patience.
