Is there any way to connect a linux box to a checkpoint  VPN?

Checkpoint makes Secure Client for Windows, Mac OS X, and Windows Mobile devices.

If you want to connect from a linux client, you'll have to purchase and use the SSL VPN product.  You can either add SSL-Extender to a Checkpoint gateway, or you can purchase the Connectra box, which is their SSL Portal/Gateway.  

I do not believe that you can setup any other linux based VPN client to work with Checkpoint, it certainly isn't supported right now.   You could also setup an internal VPN server and tunnel through the Checkpoint.

Tks for ur comments mabutterfield.

I've read that vpnc has interoperability with checkpoint VPN http://www.vpnc.org/testing.html the problem is I don't know how to configure but judging by google (search by vpnc checkpoint) it appears possible. Any comments on this?

As for the connectra I have it, I'll make some test to see if it work, although I will prefer to have a client instead of using connectra.

In a site-to-site, Checkpoint is very interoperable.  I've setup site-to-site VPNs from Checkpoint to Cisco, Watchguard, and Sonicwall with great reliability.  

As far as client based, I'm pretty sure you have to have SecureClient/Remote to connect to Checkpoint VPN.

For client based VPN there is a SecureClient version available for an old 2.4.x linux kernel, and there's also a new edition for 2.6 available in private beta (not sure when it's going to be available). However, the SNX (SSL based) client is working well. If you have a license for SecureClient you should be able to configure SNX too.

Thanks for confirming that there's an old client.  I thought I remembered a client for RedHat 7.3, but it was so long ago, I didn't know if it would work today.  

Do you know what you have to do to get into the private beta program?

Mike,
That's correct. The old linux SecureClient was available for Redhat 7.2 and 7.3.

I'm not sure if they are accepting new customers into the beta program, but you can try contacting Checkpoint through your Checkpoint reseller.
