Nokia Firewall Console `

Hi,

What type of cable do you use to connect to a Nokia IP350 firewall, the connection type is 9 min male.
I have tried to connect and I get a blank screen no logon prompt. IS the cable Null modem or standard straight thru serial cable ?

Do the firewall not use a standard type of cable i.e. a Null modem cable or do I have make the cable myself ?

Yes you can use null modem cable; I am attaching the pin layout for null modem cable as well.

I have tried a null modem cable,  I get the connection screen via putty/hyper terminal but no logon prompt.
It had been working by using the cisco console cable with an rj45-serial adapter, then it sudennly stopped working. I have tried connecting 2 different nokia firewalls on both ports, still no logon prompt.

There is a possiblity that the cable/connector might have some problem; if possible please use another cable/connector and check.

Hi,
I have used 2 different null modem cables still no joy, I will get another console cable with a new RJ45 - Serial adaptor

It was a problwm with the firewall, It was all working after a power cycle
