I have a question. I am thinking about taking the CCNA exam. However, I am finding those Cisco devices are somewhat out dated compared to devices such as the Checkpoint UTM device.
Would you agree with this? I am curious to others thoughts.

The CCNA deals primarily with switching and routing concepts, touching only lightly on security related topics; the primary function of a CheckPoint UTM machine is to be a firewall and intrusion prevention system. They obviously do route and switch but only on a basic level when compared with a Cisco router / switch. The Ciscos are certainly not dated and a CCNA is well worth having.
CCNA material applies to everything internet related and I would advise doing this before considering the more specialised CheckPoint certification.

Those Cisco Devices? - Which ones?
Cisco/Juniper has latest device families itself with UTM functionalities.
For the exam perspective the capabilities of a device in question may make a big difference when it comes to different scenario where you really implement it.
