The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Cisco VPN Client Software Cant connect to Servers when VPN Client is behind ASA 5000 Security Appliance, Cisco ASA 5000 Series  Security Appliance

Asked by syrium in Cisco PIX Firewall, Virtual Private Networking (VPN), Enterprise Firewalls

Tags: Cisco, VPN Client Software, Version 4 or 5, Cant connect to Servers when Behind ASA 5000 Series, Cisco, ASA 5000 Series Security Appliance, 5505, 5000 Series, Security Appliance Version 7.2

OBJECTIVE:  Create a clean VPN Connection to the ASA 5520 on the Remote Site using the Cisco VPN Client from laptops located behind the ASA 5505  Version 7.2(2) in the Local Site.

PROBLEM:
I have a Cisco ASA 5505 Series behind a modem setup as bridge (Local Location) .   I am trying to connect to an ASA5520 (Remote Location) using the Cisco VPN Client Software.   The Cisco VPN Client are located in different laptops behind the ASA5505(Local Location).  The Cisco VPN Client can connect using IPSec or IPSec Over UDP (Lock ICON) to the Remote Location ASA 5520. However when I try to ping or connect to any of the machines behind the ASA5520 no response is given.  THE 5505 is not routing the appropiate information to Laptops with the Cisco Vpn Client software.

TESTING DONE:
1)ASA 5520 IS OK because I can successfully create a VPN Connection using Cisco Client and connect to the mahcines behind the ASA 5520  if I use my Dial up ISP.
2)NETWORK IS OK because if I change the Cisco ASA 5505 for a simple Linksys WrV54g  and I can successfully create a VPN Connection to the Remote Location using the Cisco Client and  connect to the machines behind the ASA 5520. NO BLOCKING OF PORT OS PROTOCOLS.

NAT OR PAT OR NONE (NONE OF THEM WORK)
3)At the begining I thought it was because of NATTING.
First  I was Using  PAT and I was having a problem with Protocol 50 ESN. So I change to NAT with a Pool of Addresses and at the end without NAT but still I have the Problem.

LAPTOP                                  ASA           MODEM                                 ASA              SERVERS
WITH                       -----------> 5505  ----->Setup ----->INTERNET ---->  5520 -------->MACHINE
CISCO VPN CLIENT                Local           Bridge                                   Remote
SOFTWARE

Considerations:  ONLY IPSEC or UDP over IPSEC Transport are available in the Server Side. No modifications can be done on the ASA 5520 since I dont control them.  ONLY CHANGES TO THE ASA 5505 (Local)

NAT OR PAT CAN BE USED.. Code Bellow is from the ASA 5505 on the Local Side. Change it as you please!
