The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

When upgrading a Pix 506  from 6.x to 7.x is this the only method?

Asked by DanRaposo in Cisco PIX Firewall

Hi,
I am trying to upgrade a remote PIX 506 from version 6 to version 7.  When I attempt to copy the binary from tftp to flash I get the following error

Insufficient flash space available for this request:
  Size info: request:5435448 current:1966136 delta:3469312 free:2752512
Image not installed

sh flashfs gives me the following info about what is on my flash

 sh flashfs
flash file system:  version:3  magic:0x12345679
  file 0: origin:       0 length:1966136
  file 1: origin: 2097152 length:15021
  file 2: origin:       0 length:0
  file 3: origin: 2228224 length:3126944
  file 4: origin: 5373952 length:131072
  file 5: origin: 8257536 length:308

The only method I could find online for upgrading this could be found in the link below .. which basically says that I need to connect a console cable and go into monitor mode ... but is that the only way?  I am not near the PIX and wanted to do it remotely if possible.
