The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Having trouble with "normal" SSL web sites after enabling OMA and installing a DI-LB604
Tags: Cisco, PIX-501, PIX-501
I am not a big fan of many changes all at once but we did a few major changes and I now how a problem.  I enabled OMA and installed an SSL certificate.  I had to enter the following command in the PIX before I could get my smart phone to Sync:

static (inside,outside) tcp 192.168.199.2 https 192.168.1.9 https netmask 255.255.255.255 0 0

192.168.1.9 is my Exchange Server

I also had to switch over to two new DSL lines.  One with a static IP and the other dynamic.  I brought both lines into a new Dlink DI-LB604 and set up applications to route port 25 and 443 to the LAN IP 192.168.199.2 which is the outside IP of my PIX-501.

We now have major issues with online banking and secure sites.

You didn't really say, but it seems implied that you can't get 25 and 443 traffic inbound through the PIX...is this correct?  If so, try issuing the following commands to change the syntax of your ACL and static statements:

no access-list outside_access_in
access-list outside_access_in permit tcp any interface outside eq 808
access-list outside_access_in permit tcp any interface outside eq smtp
access-list outside_access_in permit tcp any interface outside eq https
access-group outside_access_in in interface outside
no static (inside, outside) tcp 192.168.199.2 smtp 192.168.1.9 smtp netmask 255.255.255.255
no static (inside, outside) tcp 192.168.199.2 https 192.168.1.9 https netmask 255.255.255.255
static (inside, outside) tcp interface smtp 192.168.1.9 smtp netmask 255.255.255.255
static (inside, outside) tcp interface https 192.168.1.9 https netmask 255.255.255.255

Hi batry boy,

I was getting port 25 without a problem.  443 was not working at all.  The problem was with the DI-LB604.  The SSL connections didn't like being split into two different IP's (load balancing with two different DSL connections).  I modified the DL-LB604 and all is good in our world.

Thanks for the comment!
