The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. Proper Use of the route-map command with Cisco Pix

My office currently has 3MB internet.  Access to the outside first passes through a Cisco Pix515 and then on to a 2600.  We host a few public servers on our internal network with access lists allowing access to them from the outside. They are not in a DMZ. The Pix does all NAT. Due to bandwidth restrictions and the cost of this type of internet connection I have purchased a 10MB cable internet package which I want to use only for internal access to the internet. I want to keep all traffic to our public servers through the existing 3MB circuit. I am wanting to achieve this by using the route-map command.

Because the PIX does all of the NAT I have to do the routing through the Pix and not the router. My cable modem is plugged into an open ethernet port on my pix and I have verified that everything works.

I started out to test routing just my internal IP address through the desired interface.

access-list 1 permit ip any host 10.1.2.50
route-map test permit 10
match ip address 1

After entering the command match ip address 1 I get the following error... "Extended access-list 1 not applicable to route"

Can someone please provide me some details on how to successfully accomplish this? I am running PIX Version 6.3(4). Thanks in advance.Start Free Trial
