Are ACLs in router required?

Asked by hoggiee in Cisco PIX Firewall, Network Routers

I have a Cisco 2600 Series Router and a Cisco PIX 515E firewall, which protects internal hosts.  I have in and out ACLs in the firewall.  My question is do I still need to apply ACLs in the router? What is the common practice? If I apply ACLs in the router, will it slow down the traffic or affect the processing loads of the router?  Please advise.  Thank you.Start Free Trial
