I inherited a Pix 525 and I have attempted several time to perform password recovery on the device. with no success. I have done this many times on other units. The device boots to pix803.bin. so I have the np70.bin file on my tftp server, it prompts me to clear the passwords and then reboots...then asks me for username and tried to find the AAA server which does not exist in it present enviornment...so I can't log in.....I suppose they could have call the boot bin file pix803.bin to confuse a would be person from attempting recovery...but they could have just use the no password recovery command to address this....
couple of notes:
this is only one of the original pair...I think this might be an issue???
I have also tried the np63.bin and np62.bin no luck
following this it could not find the flash boot file...so I had to tftp the pix803.bin back to the device to get it to boot...
after tftp'ing the pix803.bin file it booted the same way....asking for usernam and password...
for grins i tried the combination of cisco, pix, "no password" without success
when I run the np70.bin it does NOT ask to clear AAA info??? I thought it was supposed to do that if AAA info existed in the config??
stumped??? !@#$%
