Remote VPN Logging Question

Asked by andyoww in Cisco PIX Firewall, Virtual Private Networking (VPN)

We are having some issues with our software, but I'm not sure if it's the software or the VPN connection not being restored correctly.

We are using cell modems in our squad cars and have very hilly terrain.  When the user goes in a valley they loose signal and the VPN connection drops (as designed).  When they come back up and regain connectivity, the VPN reconnects (as designed).  Here's where the question comes up.  The lock will lock on the VPN client, but the software is not reconnecting.  I'm not in the cars, so I can't verify if they have VPN connectivity.  I'm not certain if it's the VPN or if the software we run not reconnecting correctly. I want to rule out these issues are related to the VPN.

I can check the status of the current VPN conncetions by using:
sh vpn-sessiondb remote

But

I would like to know which commands to use to check the status of dropped and reconnected VPNs or anytime there were errors during previous reconnections.

Thanks!
