The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. What would be the best firewall for a medium traffic windows web server?

We currently have 3 windows web servers running behind a PIX firewall which has been running great for 4 years.  I like the harware firewalls and the fact they are independent from the servers, rarely 'crash' - or never in our case.  It's time to replace this unit due only to the age of it, and I was wondering if anyone had recomendations?  We have been looking at the ASA5510 that is the direct replacement for our PIX (according to cisco), but it that model series there are a large number of options that mostly seeminly I do not need.  Our requirements are pretty simple, we allow only tcp/ip traffic over common ports like 80/21, we need NAT with ability to handle about a dozen incoming IPs and max 10,000 (more like 1,000) concurrent users. I have heard from the unix crowd that I would not need a firewall if I did not run windows, but I am so I need. Thanks, any good hardware or software firewall that you can recommend.  I do not need a VPN.Start Free Trial
