I personally use 194.159.73.44 as a time server. Works fine for me, although I don't know if it would be a good 'local' for you, but you could check it out.

What is the best practice for setting up NTP on a Cisco ASA 5505. I'm not looking for the commands just any tips you can provide for syncing the time of all PCs to a firewall. Also, are there any recommended public NTP servers?
Thanks in advance.

Sorry I wasn't very clear. This is for my home and I don't use a DC. Is it possible to setup an ASA to get its time from an NTP server and then sync my home PCs with it?
Also, didn't there use to be a tick and tock military (or NASA) NTP server that was for public use?
Thank again. Sorry for the delay.

ntp server ip-address [key number] [source if-name] [prefer]
The above command in config mode would set the time to be derived from an NTP server.

The link above has an ntp server (Open access) from NASA's Ohio research center. So the command to configure would be;
ntp server 128.156.1.43 source (interface-name)
That should do, now for your internal client machines, point them to ASA for time synchronization.

Look at the above as reference.

I'd suggest to have your Domain Controllers use public ntp servers to sync their time and have all the domain members sync the time with the DC.

Check the above for different stratum 1 and stratum 2 servers.
