Question

Configure firewall to allow outbound IPSec over TCP

Asked by: spillsbury

How do I configure my Cisco ASA5505 to allow 'outbound' vpn connections using "IPSec over TCP / port 10000"?

Users on my internal network are able to use the Cisco VPN client (v5.0.02) and connect through the ASA to remote networks via IPSec over UDP, but they are unable to connect to networks that require "IPSec over TCP" using TCP port 10000.

Is there a simple configuration setting that I'm missing?

Thanks.

Result of the command: "show running-config"

You do not need to do anything on your ASA to support "IPsec over TCP 1000". they are just treated like regular TCP traffic. you need to check remote VPN Server. is it Cisco router/ASA?

by: spillsburyPosted on 2009-03-06 at 15:45:10ID: 23822272

I'm fairly sure its a Cisco routere/ASA, but not sure of model number.

The reason I think its our ASA is because when users go home, and launch the VPN client, they ARE able to connect. Its only when they're behind my ASA when they cannot connect to the remote network.

by: leibinusaPosted on 2009-03-06 at 16:39:18ID: 23822522

when you run VPN again next time, on the 5505 use command "show local-host IP-ADDRESS-of-VPNClient" to see what kind of connections established.

by: spillsburyPosted on 2009-03-10 at 09:04:57ID: 23848238

I"m not sure I follow. A connection can never be established from behind the ASA5505.
