Hi, What is the command please on a pix to see and to set the tcp keep-alive setting

What are you trying to acheive? to keep a three way handshake up? or keep encrypted traffic up?

If its the first then the default is 30 seconds


This configuration example sets the TCP embryonic connection timeout to 50 seconds for the default "global_policy" policy-map:
access-list tcp_inspection extended permit tcp any any
access-list tcp_inspection extended deny ip any any
class-map my_inspection_tcp
match access-list tcp_inspection
policy-map global_policy
class my_inspection_tcp
 set connection timeout embryonic 0:00:50
service-policy global_policy global

hi its version 8 - All i want to do is see what the TCP connection timeout setting is  - what is the command to see and change the timout setiing - I know I can see it in the running config at 4 hours - how do i change it or just view it using cli - version 8 of ios TA

Thats good thanks - Im just wondering if there is a show command where I can see the tcp timeout setting - rather than sh run config - a show that will be just specific for tcp timeout thanks again

thanks this page is screwed at minute. - im typing this for 3rd time

found out from colleage that this is what im need

sh run | i timeout

your article is coorect also = Does anyone know how this timeout value could have changed to 0:00 and therefore not be closing connections - is this a common occurrence if the pix has been compromised??

I support about 500 pix/ASAs Ive never seen that happen :(
