Iptable logging flooding the console

I run the following script to set up my iptables firewall at my intranett web-server, wins, dns and dhcp server as seen in the code box. The problem is that the log output keeps flooding the console screen. Anyone got any solutions?

That would send all output from running the script to /dev/null and all errors the same. The problem arises when iptables keeps doing its job, logging, not when running the script. The script merely sets up the iptables configuration, no errors are output from the script itself. Iptables is the scapegoat here...

Yeah good point, I realised straight after posting. If you see towards the bottom of http://wiki.debian.org/iptables and run iptables in the correct way then it should log to /var/log/messages rather than the console.

Via setup in /etc/syslog.conf the logs are to be stored in /var/log/ipdebug, and they are. But they are also output to the console. Note, they are not output to the user terminal, but the console.

That link did not help me much, I save and reload iptable rules much the same way. None of it seemed new to me, you have to be more specific.

Assuming that the output is appearing on the console you are running the script from and you don't want other console output at this kernel message level (ie. you're happy to use /var/log/ files to view)

Hope this is more helpful. If not let me know as I'd like to know what the solution is too. Unfortunately I don't have a debian system available at the moment to test this.

Your guidance + sysctl -p and /etc/init.d/sysklogd restart and the problem was gone. Thanks!
