Cisco ASA 5510 and L2TP Remote VPN from Windows XP Client Fail With Errors

Hi All...

I have an issue that involves a cisco asa 5510 with sa 8.0.3 and a windows xp client. The client wants to use the built in L2TP vpn capabilites in xp versus loading the cisco vpn client. I have already built the connection on the asa and when the client goes to connect the asa provides the following errors.

pfs is very likely 1 cause of this..

This could also be a problem. Pick one and only one transform set that matches one of your policies

If he is to choose only one, it should likely be the last one (TRANS_*).  Since according to Cisco l2tp requires transport mode due to the GRE tunnel.

Had the same issue on the same hard- and software (asa5510 v.8.0.3.19, WinXP).
Investigated it a bit further.
Conclusion: 1) multiple ipsec transforms in crypto map - not a problem.
                    2) the real problem was pfs. Must be disabled.
Hence, the points (and thanks) should have been given to Voltz-dk.
He was also right to point out the transport mode for L2TP-over-IPsec transforms.
