The WatchGuard Firebox that protects your network has detected a message that may not be safe.
Cause : The file type may not be safe.
Content type : application/ms-tnef
File name : winmail.dat
Virus status : No information.
Action : The Firebox deleted winmail.dat.
Your network administrator can not restore this attachment.
I've been searching but can't find much information. Any ideas? I can't understand why one member of staff received the attachment and the other didn't

Do you have multiple SMTP services in place. Have you changed things in SMTP proxy service or is it mostly the default with exception of content types/filename.
What if you request the sender to send mail again but this time put JG as to and JK as CC; do you now get the results that for JK email attachment is denied.

I am assuming that JK and JG are people on different domains; and for JG WG SMTP proxy service stripped the attachment.
In FB policy manager edit the SMTP proxy service; go to Properties, View/Edit proxy; under Attachments->Content Types; add application/ms-tnef; save to firebox and this would solve the problem.
These steps are for version 8.x or higher, the steps would differ for lower versions but the process remains same.
Please implement and update.
