Device is a Firebox Edge X50W
It works with Vista since I connect from a Vista desktop.
Main Topics
Browse All TopicsI have a remote user who cannot connect to our Watchguard device that sits behind a network-based firewall though I am able to using his profile on my own PC. We are both running Vista, though he's running 64-bit and I'm only 32, he on a laptop me on a desktop. He can ping the public IP of the Watchguard on the firewall but the client still won't connect. Attached are the logs, first showing a good connection from my PC, then from his. The Mobile VPN versions that are installed are the same, though the "licensed" versions are different and I'm not sure why. Aside from this, the OSes are the only differences I can see. Also, the NBFW is not configured to filter incoming traffic to this IP from only certain addresses. We have other users with different profiles who can connect. Any thoughts? They discontinued support on this device.

Generally when connecting to VPNs, if you're already on the same subnet, the connection will either not complete or will drop. My home VPN uses 10.199.100.x and so does my LAN at work. The only way for me to connect from work to home is to use my Sprint card. One definite way to test is to use a broadband card.
In addition to RobWill's suggestions on verifying IPsec and the carrier is not blocking the traffic, if available, the user should try using another machine to connect. Not only test the VPN connection using the broadband card at home, but also test outside of the home.
Well, I had the user connect using a different PC running XP and it worked and then he said he somehow got the Vista PC to work as well. He said he logged on as a different user to get it to work, but he couldn't elaborate. I don't see how logging on as a different user on the PC would make any difference, but the fact that it works now is all I care about. He may have been doing something incorrect all along and won't admit it, but that is the "joy" of troubleshooting a user several states away. You just have to trust that they've done what you've told them. So, now I don't know what to do about the points. I thank you all for the education in troubleshooting this, though!

Good Morning,
Which version of MUVPN are you running? Also what version Firebox are you running? The version you have may not have been compatible with Vista if it's older.
