The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Sygate Freezes connection for a short time

Asked by xmetalfanx in Network Software Firewalls

Tags: , ,

I have Sygate 5.5.2525 and bit defender 8 pro (with firewall running).  Lately after i reformatted two data only (mp3 and temp drive... not the windows partition), I have had sygate allowing connections to the net .. then it pauses from between 2 to 10 minutes before it asks for a connection (when i clear the "app permissions" out) or regular net apps to connect (when set to allow).

I mention the partition item due to the fact that, thats ACTUALLY the same day the sygate issue started... reinstalling sygate does not help (even to a different version) ... i have had this one version of sygate and bit defender for at least a year ... no issues until now... i have cleared both app permissions in both firewalls, reinstall sygate, .... nothing seems to be helping.... i THINK the one time i reinstalled the network adapters, it seemed faster (sygate seemed to pause for a sorter time), but it still paused.... i am only thinking of reinstalling BD and updating network drivers from the net... i really dont want to reinstall them everytime i go to log in....  after the pause is over, all programs suddenly connect as if nothing was the matter ..

I have xp sp2 with a few post sp2 updates... IT WAS AT LEAST 1 1/2 to 2 weeks since i did a windows update, from the problem starting to the actual update, so its not 'i did update @ Q3233253453 whatever and the problem started)... ..

only two items to note that i did about the same time as the problem was as i said and 2) i ran Ms's Bootvis and "optimized startup" ... which caused its own problems but a dos prompt and "bootvis.exe -off" fixed that one..... just figured i'd say that to give you the most amount of info i can to solve the problem ....

thank you to all who reply (in advance)Start Free Trial
