The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

ISA Server 2004 in Small Business Environment

Asked by jsvor in MS Forefront-ISA, Network Software Firewalls, Enterprise Firewalls

I am responsible for putting together a new server for a small company of about 30 users and was looking for some advice on what to use for a firewall.  Once the new server is purchased I will have 3 machines to work with - Main Server (2x Xeon processors, 4 GB Ram, 600 GB drive space), Second Server (2x 2.4 Xeon, 1 GB Ram, 450 GB drive space), Third Server (P4 3.0, 512 MB, 330 GB drive space).  I will be putting SBS 2003 Premium on the new server and will be the DC, and handle DNS, DHCP, Exchange, file storage.  The second server will have Windows Server 2003 standard on it along with Terminal services.  I'm not sure if I will even need the third server or not.

Would it be a good idea to put on ISA 2004 on the SBS server and have it control the security/routing with a direct connection to the ISP connection or just get a firewall appliance like sonicwall?  I like the features of ISA and would like to try and implement it but I am not sure if it would be a good idea to put it on the SBS server and have it be directly connected to the internet. Also, the users are going to want remote access to their email (OWA) and the TS from their homes.  Thanks for the input.
