Using msn messenger through proxy

Hi all,

Just wondered if this could be done:

whilst in work I can use msn messenger, but I have the connection set in a way that I connect through a proxy, which will be at my home.

I was wondering this as work has the port blocked for the msn messenger and wondered if anyone could walk me through step by step to do this.

Sorry, if your organisation has the port blocked its for a reason. Explaining the process of using a pseudo proxy to violate their policy would be against our rules.

Ok it was actually hypothetical, sorry. I am in work, in my own business and wanted to connect via my home.

The logistics of how a proxy would work using msn messenger is what  Iam after.

I can catigorically state that no violation of any policies in place at my office will be broken

Hypothetically?

A number of ways.

Firstly, you could use non-proxied traffic such as Remote Desktop (RDP) and simply take over your home PC and run MSN directly from there. Secondly, You can connect over SSL (encrypted traffic from you to your home machine using port 443 normally) and run proxied commands to MSN. Becuase the ssl tunnel is from your office PC through to the home PC, the office firewall/proxy etc cannot interrogate the traffic due to the encryption.
