Cannot get DVR to Broadcast

I had to replace a Honeywell DVR with a new one (HRG4). I had a local certified Honeywell technician install it. For some reason I they/I cannot get the new DVR to broadcast.

It is so weird, I can view the device in the location where it is installed, however I cannot not view it across my network. I have checked the port forwarding in my LinkSys (BEFVP41) firewall. It still is not working.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Signed,

Frustrated!

I assume you've setup a NAT and Firewall rule on the router?
The DVR has a static ip on the inside network? That is required to do port forwarding...

Once both rules are setup test using this site - http://www.canyouseeme.org/

What does it return?

I have the FW set to allow port 80 Traffic (See attached)
I also have NAT enabled (see attached)
I had this service running properly with the old Honeywell device, but just not the new one.

However, when I running the "CanYouSeeMe.com" checker I read it cannot see port 80.  Huh?
FW-NAT.JPG
FWPort80.JPG
Is the new device running a service on port 80? Or some other port?

Your attachment 'FWPort80.jpg' - that is your NAT translation...
The FW-NAT.jpg isn't relevant(that simply means enable NAT in general)

Normally there's a firewall rule(depending on the router model) which might be missing

But if all you've changed is the DVR and the ports on the new DVR are matching the ones on the old one then it should work - is the new DVR set to 192.168.30.90?

When you browse to its web interface what is the address?

Thank you!

When I look at the settings I have port 8080 running, not port 80. I ran the CanYouSeeMe.org and am getting the error that :

Error: I could not see your service on [IP] on port (80)
Reason: Connection refused

I am using a LinkSys BEFVP41 V2
Right, but what is the ip of the DVR? Is it 90?

Yes, the DVR is .90
Ok, need more details on your network here as it appears the Linksys is setup correctly and this should work

It works on your LAN ok
What is between your Linksys and the other side you are trying to access this device from?

Is this a simple lan network with 1 firewall and then the internet? You are trying to access the device from a computer on the internet through the firewall and nothing else in between?
Also one other thing I thought of - have you set a 'default gateway' on the new DVR?

Something that works on your LAN but doesn't from a remote network can be as simple as not having the correct default gateway on the device...just something else to check

Q: Also one other thing I thought of - have you set a 'default gateway' on the new DVR?
A: I have the Default Gateway set as the gateway for that location and its firewall.

Q It works on your LAN ok
A: Yes, I can access the DVR on the local LAN, however I cannot access it across my WAN.

Q: Is this a simple lan network with 1 firewall and then the internet? You are trying to access the device from a computer on the internet through the firewall and nothing else in between?
A: I am trying to access this through the firewall using Port Forwarding.

I can access the DVR on a PC in the location, but not across the LAN. I was able to access it across the LAN at one point, but in all my testing I must have changed something (I am frustrated to say that). I am using the MULTI-SITE 4200 application to view this. I used to be able to use the RAS PLUS.

I need to find the setting on the LinSys VPN to change the port from 8080 to 80. I have dont inot hthe Configuring the HTTP ports and tried to change the port from 80 to 8080 but it would not let me. So, it seems like in the newer Honeywell DVR they want to use the 80 vs 8080(?).
Well I don't know what a MULTI-SITE 4200 or a RAS PLUS are so can't comment on that...

Not sure what a vpn has to do with it either

The new DVR - does it have any settings on its config in terms of restricting access from outside the local LAN possibly?

From remote site/machine can you even ping the 192.168.30.90 DVR even?

Since this worked previously with another DVR and the ports are the same there is possibly some setting on the DVR itself that is preventing access

The Mulit-Site and RAS PLUS are software whereby you can view the DVR.

I have looked in several places, however I can be missing something. The manual I have does not cover everything in the machine. Possibly to give Honeywell techs a job, and I cannot call Honeywell directly. I need to be a certified dealer.  Gotta love it! I cannot find a good tech in my area.

I can actually ping the device. I also checked my firewall myself and there is nothing blocking the traffic from by the firewall.

I actually made a little progress last night. I can now see the camera across my LAN. I still cannot see it outside my network using the public IP with the port number.

Thanks for all your suggestions by the way.
